Kathryn Van Ness is the director of the UCI Career Center. She
joined UCI in 1998 following ten years at UCLA where she held
positions in the main career center and the MBA Career Center. As
Associate Dean and Director of the latter, Kathryn built a
responsive organization that earned recognition as the nation's No.
1 ranked MBA career center from Business Week magazine in
both 1996 and 1998.
In recognition of her high standards for career center operations and understanding of employer issues, Kathryn has served on the Wall Street Recruiters' Steering Committee in New York and on the Board of Directors for Leadership California.
She is a member of WACE, the Western Association of Colleges and Employers and chairs the Career Center's Corporate Advisory Board.
Kathryn earned her undergraduate degree in communications and a masters degree in counseling from the University of Wisconsin. In 1994, she participated in the Executive Program in Management at UCLA's Anderson School.
A native of Wisconsin, Kathryn has lived in Japan, Illinois, Texas, Arizona, and California.
Kathryn is currently focusing on employer outreach and increased connection between the Career Center and academic and administrative areas across the UCI campus.
