About the resources provided

Information provided is meant to be supplemental and used as an aid in finding appropriate services for yourself, family, friend or student.  It is always recommended that you consult with a professional if you have any concerns regarding mental health or substance abuse concerns or questions.

Things to keep in mind when looking for services...

1.  Asking the right questions

Selecting the appropriate agency/provider can be an easier task if you ask the right questions when making the initial call.  Consider it a screening process.  Below is a list of general questions that may help get more information about each agency.  Please do not limit yourself to these questions, as some may not pertain to your needs.

  • What services does your organization/agency offer?
  • What are the requirements for receiving services?  What population do you work with?
  • How does the referral process work?  Can I self-refer?
  • What should I expect during my initial/intake appointment?
  • What are the costs for services?
  • What are the payment options?  Do you accept Medi-Cal, private insurance, private pay?

If you are seeking counseling/mental health services...

  • Do you provide family/individual/group therapy?
  • What type of credentialing do therapists have?
  • Do they have specializations (such as drug abuse counseling, domestic violence, eating disorders, anger management)?
  •  Is there a waitlist?

2.  A few things about costs

A wide variation exists in sliding fee scales from free to full price.  Sliding fee scales are used by most agencies, where they use income and family size as factors in determining the rate for a given person.  You will want to check with the agency for details.

3.  Finding the right “fit”

Finding the appropriate provider/agency that may be able to assist with your problem or concern can often be a stressful step.  Please keep in mind that finding the right provider/agency with whom you feel comfortable is essential to making services effective and productive.  Therefore, shop around!  It is perfectly normal to look for other providers/agencies if you are not satisfied with the services you are being given.

warningPlease note...

The list of services provided is, by no means, exhaustive.  If you would like to recommend that an agency be included, please contact CSW, as we are always looking to increase the resource library.  Also, if there is a particular service that you would like to see added, please let us know.

All names, addresses, descriptions of services and fees are subject to change.  A listing in this website does not constitute an endorsement or certification of a program’s services, nor is any exclusion intentional.  When you contact an agency, you should reconfirm the services and costs before making your selection.  All information provided is kept  as accurate as possible.  If you note any errors, we would appreciate if you would bring it to our attention.
